Actually this is the only *circulating* video. There is one other video from Fall 1997, Los Angeles. It's auroraspiderwoman's master so unfortunately it'll never be released (NFT forever), but there is a clip of La Vie Boheme on their YouTube channel."

Notes: Unbelievably talented swing Yassmin Alers as Maureen here. (She's also played Mimi, sung the Seasons of Love solo, and chalked up every other women's ensemble role. I bet she's stepped up as Joanne at some point or another.) as usual, the visuals are kind of a wash (generation loss, washout, shot from far away), but the sound is worlds better than any audios in the Nederlander for a long, long time. I very much recommend this video for the audio track alone---great to hear the OBC with very different takes on the lines from the official recording, and an occasional changed-up lyric (not flubbed).

Notes: A lovely new show full of talented performers, and the lead women have a great rapport with each other. The staging is simple but effective, and the tiered sections help the action move seamlessly between scenes. A very nice capture with no blackouts and no washout. There is a rail that obstructs the actors legs when they come into the audience, but the action on the main stage is unobstructed. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. Notes: Christy Altomare originated the role of Anya in the Broadway production of Anastasia for which she received the Theatre World Award and was nominated for an Outer Critics Award and a Drama Desk Award for lead actress in a musical. She made her Broadway debut playing the role of Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia!. Off- Broadway, Christy portrayed the role of Sue Snell in MCC’s revival of Carrie the Musical. Christy can be heard in the cast recordings of both Anastasia and Carrie. She toured the country in the first national tour of Spring Awakening, playing the role of Wendla Bergman. Regional credits include Jerusha Abbott in John Caird and Paul Gordon’s production of Daddy Long Legs, Guinevere in Camelot at Drury Lane in Chicago, and most recently, Nellie Forbush in South Pacific at the Aspen Music festival. Christy is a graduate of the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Along with her passion for musical theater, she is a songwriter/ recording artist, who currently released her new album of original music called Wandering Bird.

Notes: MP4 format. Recorded from the balcony with surprising clarity considering my location and that this is an iPhone boot. Starts with 8 seconds of silence and actual footage begins a handful of lines into the opening number. Somewhat constant wandering upwards, but eating the orchestra is pretty cool in my opinion anyway. Primarily wide-ish shot with some washout and an occasional brief dropout (longest being abut 2 minutes long). Heads from people in front of me leaning forward present on the bottom of the screen semi-consistently. A spectacular show that I really hope makes it at least until Tony noms if not longer. Some scenes (ex. the chase scene) I didn’t even bother cropping or anything due to all the moving parts. NFS forever except through master and NFT through February 24, 2028.

Written and performed by Van Hughes and Nick Blaemire, Space Dogs tells the heartbreaking story of Laika, a stray dog who is sent to space during the Cold War by a top-secret Russian scientist. Laika made history as the first animal to orbit the Earth, but she was only supplied with one meal, seven days' worth of oxygen, and died from overheating within hours of liftoff. Presented as part of MCC's SongLab series, the 27-minute stream will feature puppets, animation, green screen technology, and guitars. Production design is by Deilis Curiel, sound is by Twi McCallum, cinematography is by Johnny Moreno, and creative direction is by Peter Nigrini.

Notes: Filmed in 1080p HD 16:9 widescreen a couple weeks before the show closed. Very difficult to shoot around heads of some tall people, so quite a bit of obstruction in some scenes, but shot around as best as possible. Fun show, great energy from the cast as well as the audience who was loving every moment. First 30 seconds of Act 1 and first four minutes of Act 2 are audio only due to house lights being up. Audio fed in from external source so it's super clear.

Notes: The cast is by far the best part of this tour. In watching clips of the OBC, I think I could say I actually prefer some members of the touring cast. (SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs are some specific highlights.) The show itself is incredibly solid from a creative standpoint, but the non-equity production is heavily scaled back from the original Broadway production. You’ll notice the projection mapping itself is pretty terrible with constant glitches off of the surfaces that seemed incredibly unprofessional. Otherwise, the tour is a must-see specifically for those who have yet to see the show itself in person. I was only able to capture the first fifty minutes of the show, up about halfway through “Hero is My Middle Name”.

Notes: A nice capture overall; the biggest flaw here is the obstruction. There are a lot of heads that were very difficult to work around, but the show is still captured well and the actors are only occasionally blocked for a few seconds at a time. There are some very quick dropouts, but no major blackouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes playbill scans.

Notes: For some reason (covid?) the tour company manager was on in the pastor/doctor track so that’s fun. My camera did not like the lighting/large bright rectangle set pieces and at times has a lot of trouble focusing/light correcting. There are two heads on either side of the frame and I worked around them the best I could but some action is lost, especially when the owners of the heads leaned in. The show was really loud so during some of the bigger numbers the mic fuzzes out, it's mostly not too noticeable except for Hot Stuff where its the entire song. Video ends part way through curtain call.

Notes: OK wide-shot phone boot from the mid-orchestra. First act is slightly soft focused, but improves for Act 2. Only obstruction is from a head on the bottom left, but doesn't cover any important action. Also, "Shake Your Tailfeather" is almost completely obstructed by a huge crowd of people being seated late. (I hate this theatre that allows people to sit so late in the front where there are 100+ empty seats in the back) As usual, some of the darker scenes are underexposed. Awesome performers by the entire cast, but Ann Nesby gave me chills. She's such an icon. Includes video, Audio (tracked by FaceInTheMirror and untracked), and understudy board photos.
