Notes: Video is a brilliant capture, lots of zooms and wide shots. There is a high focus on Kennedy throughout with lots of great shots of her brilliant facials during her numbers. There were quite a few technical difficulties with this performance. When Gerry sat on the credenza it nearly collapsed under him and he commented, "I'm just going to stand" and Kennedy broke character and started laughing. Later the hospital bed did not come out so Carole and Gerry stood next to each other talking.

Starts at the dialogue pre-Coming to America, aka the lat 23ish minutes of the show. Despite the copious watchlout from being blindspot from the balcony of a theatre I have never been to before, this is a must watch for any Neil Diamond Fanatic. Camera does not capture much of downstage, and is shaky when I clap. Last four minutes or so, the audio sync is slightly off, but I tried. Audio sync is a tad off, but you can only truly notice if you are looking for a non-perfect sync or know the show insanely well. NFS except through master. Notes: Two days before the show closed on Broadway. Good amount of closeups and good quality filmed from the mid-mezzanine; there is a railing issue for a while in Act 1 but the taper improves. 'Me', 'Gaston' and 'Be Our Guest' are all predominantly missing and recording stopped for some time after 'Gaston', which created a little jump in the timeline to where Maurice gets thrown out of the tavern. Still a nice video with great closeups of the last Broadway cast.

Assorted mic issues throughout so some bits of dialogue cannot be heard. I'd say a rare sort of performance as Jake and John still had to mask due to CDC guidelines (so glad they felt up to coming back to the show!), so it added an extra layer of comedy at times. LOTS OF LAUGHTER. I’ll admit a lot of this was focused on Jake even when something else more eventful was on stage because I simply could not get over our masked “Handsome Prince”. Blackout at the very beginning of Act 2. Chatter from master and friend on occasion, primarily prevalent when Delilah goes to Jessamyn Jacobs' house as we could both swear the picture they used for the house we had seen in real life, likely in Scarsdale, NY. Shows part of curtain call. Weird background noise the whole time I couldn't quite identify. NFS except through master. NFT except through master until July 15, 2027

First four minutes of Act 1 are audio only, Act 2 starts a little bit of the way in. Good for people who have seen the show and want to rewatch certain clips (especially Wren's parts.) Second Act starts most of the way through Best Day Ever due to wacky camera movements of me getting settled gave me a headache and I didn’t feel like passing that along. This recording then ends as Delilah is telling Edgar her version of the ending for Between the Lines due to spotting an usher. Nicely ends after the line of dialogue “You’re weird”. In Boeing-Boeing, an architect living in Paris (Whitford) has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancées, with his housekeeper (Baranski) reluctantly playing romantic air-traffic controller as they fly in and out of his swank bachelor pad. But when an old school pal (Rylance) visits, things get rather turbulent. Schedules change, flights are delayed and chaos ensues in this whirl of mayhem and matchmaking.
Original production played Broadway for 65 performances in 1965. This production is based on Londonís West End revival of 2007. Nicely filmed and crystal clear. Balcony railing visible in the wider shots. Missing the first minute of Act 2.

There is a short blackout in the beginning of Act 1 and 2. Sometimes during Act 1 there is a head that blocks the right side of the stage and a bar on the left during the wide shots, but over all it's worked around pretty well and doesn't hide most of the action! There's significantly less blocking in Act 2.

Notes: Final performance. An electric performance right from the start. The enthusiastic audience is extremely supportive, and the cast gives emotional performances. Steve Martin joins the band for the Entr’Acte, and there’s a standing ovation for him, as well as for Carmen following At Long Last. There were no speeches given, but the curtain call was much longer than usual with Steve, Edie, and Walter all taking bows, and Steve doing a short impromptu tap number. This is beautifully captured with no obstruction. There is a one minute blackout over the first scene just before She’s Gone, but the rest of the show is complete. There is some slight washout in a few of the wider shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Notes: Final performance. Act one has a few issues, but act two is much better. Tiger Rag, The Hot Dog Song, and the first scene in Olive's apartment are all blacked out, totaling about 10 minutes in act one, but the rest of the show is complete; some heads blocking the center and sides of the stage in act one; they are worked around when possible, but the right side is completely obscured several times. Act two is nearly perfect with no blackouts and just some small heads at the bottom that don't block anything. Includes curtain call, Zach's farewell speech.

Notes: One of the best of the Cabaret videos from this era. Incredibly there is virtually no spotlight wash to speak of and there lots of great close-ups. Recorded from the main floor (table 319 to be precise) which is also unusual for these. Starts with 11 minutes of Jon Peterson as Emcee from the National Tour (different performance than the 2000-08-26 video). The BW video is missing the first minute or so of WIlkommen and the curtain call is missing. Also has 30 minutes of other musical clips after, the first being another Michael C Hall performance.

Notes: This is the only publicly released video recording of this acclaimed, sold out production with the original West End revival cast. This was my first time recording and as a result mistakes were made. Foolishly, I set the exposure to automatic so the recording suffered from spotlight washout (I haven't made this mistake since). The washout has mostly been fixed in editing as it's impossible to fully correct. The recording has more zooms than I would like to prevent further washout. Fortunately, this production is minimalistic and performance focused so it doesn't hinder the overall experience of the show. The recording is mainly filmed in close ups and mediums. A head is sometimes visible in the wide shots of the musical numbers. Recording includes the curtain call and marquee.

This has been incorrectly labelled as an authorized production,which is incorrect - this was an unauthorized production (e.g., no rights were secured before the production), though Gore (and Cohen) were in the audience of this performance and chose not to sue Jeff Murphy and Stagedoor over copyright infringement, partly because Gore said he had always wanted to see the show done with actual teenagers (reported by Jeff Murphy, the director).

Notes: Beautiful HD capture of one of the Final Dress Rehearsals. Top notch production and thrilling performances from Alice, Keaton, and the whole cast! This is quite a unique capture since it was the first time the blood was dropped. Too many amazing things to point out here, don't miss this one!!! A+ Well filmed with a nice mix of close-ups and full stage shots and no obstructions. Based on the revised Off-Broadway version, and presented at the Balagan Theatre. Because this was recorded at the final run-through prior to opening night, there are a few “holds” as they worked out any kinks: * After “Evening Prayers” there is a hold to change all microphone batteries, resulting in most of the song being run a second time (the sound check was removed and put as a bonus at the end of act two). * During the scene where Carrie is getting ready for the prom a microphone made a "farting" noise and Alice grabbed her butt and said "sorry" which made the cast and tech crew laugh. * The first attempt at dumping the blood on Carrie didn’t work, for the second attempt, it got into Keaton’s eyes, which resulted in Louis Hobson (the show’s director and Alice’s Next To Normal co-star) coming up on stage. * Alice didn’t have the rubber prop knife for the end, she had a real knife: so she mocked stabbing Carrie.

The rake in the mezzanine at the Neil Simon kinda stinks and I'm pretty sure the ushers were playing flashlight tag with each other the entire show. but I began to care a lot less as the night went on Video is very Cher-centric...choreography in "Dark Lady" is captured beautifully, but for the rest of the show I was mostly focused on getting those Stephanie, Teal, and Micaela zooms. We start at the scene before "Half Breed" and when Stephanie tells everyone to stand up for the finale it's all over for my filming ability.

This is also complete and includes the opening announcement alerting the audience that the show is being filmed. Amazing quality, but still has a little generational loss. In black and white. The DVD has been enhanced with chapter stops for all of the musical numbers. This, along with the tapes of Crazy for You and Passion, is amongst the only three TOFT tapes that have been leaked.
